When Julie & I sit down for our weekly meetings, one of the biggest topics we discuss is how we can be sure we are remaining consistent on social media. Instagram is our current main focus… we love engaging with our listeners in the comment sections, and we also feel it’s a great way for new, potential listeners to find us!
Here are some of the things we’ve been working on each week to help us remain consistent with social media.
- Schedule time to batch work. Put aside an hour each week to set up your social media posts for the week. This makes posting each day super easy because the hard work has already been done.
- Figure out content. We love looking at the calendar for fun “daily” holidays like “national dog day” or “national margarita day.” These are always easy no-brainer posts, we just have to find photos for them & write a witty caption, hopefully one that encourages engagement!
- Fill in the gaps. Fill in gaps in your week with stunning photos you love. With these posts, really try to up the engagement level. Aim for those likes & comments. Pretty photos get likes, engaging captions get comments. For example, you can tell a touching story about your bride’s special veil. You could also ask your followers to comment their favorite part about capturing wedding details. Your goal here is to get your followers to engage with you and/or relate to the photo in some way. By creating engagement, you’re beating the Instagram algorithm we all hate!
- Use a scheduling app to help you. We use Planoly for PhotoSpark! Julie also uses it for her business, while Kate uses Plann. Both are awesome apps, and they’ll help you plan out your Instagram feed to keep everything looking pretty. Through these apps, you can batchwork an entire month in advance if you want to. Your app will alert you when it’s time to post. You can also make sure your feed looks consistent & is appealing to the eye. We definitely couldn’t remain consistent on social media without using these apps!
