It’s that time of year again; WPPI is here and bigger than ever!
We can’t wait to meet some of you at the convention, and we decided this was a good time to create a “Surviving WPPI 2020” guide. Check it out!
What to bring:
- Layers- It gets cold in the classes & hot at the tradeshow. Layers are your best bet to remain comfy the whole time!
- Battery pack to recharge your phone- Having a charged phone is SO necessary for all the social media you’ll be doing.
- Party attire- There are TONS of parties at WPPI; be sure to pack appropriately! (bring 80s gear for the opening night party!)
- Comfortable shoes- You’ll be doing a TON of walking, so bring comfortable shoes.
- Humidifier for the room- Vegas air is dry & you’ll be talking a LOT. This will help you from drying out!
- Hand sanitizer- Vegas is gross. Airplanes are gross. Nuff said!
- Notebook/pen for notes- Leave the heavy laptop at home!
Food/Beverage
- Pack healthy snacks for the go- this will save you a ton of money & keep you well-fed/happy!
- Order groceries in- Instacart will deliver to your hotel, or you can Uber to the grocery store
- Water Bottle- avoid paying $4 for a bottle of water
- Purchase alcohol for the room to pre-game and take on the go to save your self mega cash. Drinks in Vegas add up quickly!
Well Being
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
- Hydrate again
- Wash your hands over and over and over
- Try to avoid shaking peoples hands
- Bring sanitizer wipes for the plane and hotel room
- Take a nap or two
- Exercise or take a walk outside for fresh air
Classes
- Download the app for up to date schedules & event announcements
- Do research prior to going and mark your favorites so you’re prepared.
- Do not attempt to fill your schedule with classes- pick a few favs & that’s it.
Trade Show
- Take business cards if you want to or have extras BUT you don’t need them. Instagram is the new business card + you can snap a photo and tag the person you meet.
- Walk the entire trade show floor before stopping and talking to people; this ensures you see everything there is to offer before getting sucked in
- Avoid impulse buys- never buy until the last day. If you’re still thinking about it on the last day, you probably need it!
- Try not to get your badge scanned by everyone because you WILL end up with 100’s of emails.
- Take snacks and water to save money & stay healthy
Parties and events
- Check the app for the WPPI sponsored parties
- DON’T over party the first night – This will ruin the rest of your experience
- Smaller parties are better for networking- you can talk to more people & make a bigger impression
- Drink water between drinks- staying hydrated is KEY!
We hope you love these tips on surviving WPPI & we hope to see you there! If you’re going, be sure to drop us a message on Facebook or Instagram & we’ll try to meet up!!
